SECO USA Joins Freescale Technology Forum Keynote, Introduces Record-Breaking, Ultra-Compact Computer Board based on New Freescale SCM-i.MX6D

Austin, TX (June 23, 2015) – SECO USA, a leading original design manufacturer of low-power embedded systems and handheld and rugged devices, delivered a new computer board based on Freescale’s® single chip module (SCM) technology, called Fury-M6. Freescale introduced its new SCM-i.MX6D product during the Freescale Technology Forum’s (FTF) keynote presentation, where SECO USA presented a live demo of the Fury-M6. SECO USA’s new system, which progressed from start to stage in just seven weeks, grows SECO USA’s existing family of Freescale-based systems. The Fury-M6 is SECO USA’s first module-based system, as Freescale’s SCM-i.MX6D is the first of several SCM devices planned by Freescale.

Powering the Fury-M6, Freescale’s SCM-i.MX6D integrates an i.MX 6 dual core processor, power management circuitry, NOR flash, and 1 GB LPDDR2 memory within a single package the size of a U.S. dime. The Fury-M6 also includes: 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth BLE wireless communications, LCD with touchscreen interface, battery charger, and common peripheral interfaces within a tiny 2.75 x 2” footprint. The Fury-M6, which can run Linux or Android, is the smallest, highest feature density Cortex-A class ARM computer to date.

“Freescale is proud to have played a central role in SECO USA’s rapid delivery of a full system based on our new SCM-i.MX6D product,” stated Nancy Fares, vice president of System Solutions Products for Freescale. “SECO USA’s fast development within a short time frame underscores the time-to-market advantages of Freescale’s new SCM-i.MX6D solution and epitomizes SECO USA’s impressive ability to deliver complex custom products within aggressive time windows. SECO USA’s achievement demonstrates how our new SCM-i.MX6D solution can shorten development cycles, even for sophisticated designs like the Fury-M6.”Fury-M6 Freescale Technology Forum Demo Kit

“We’re excited to introduce our Fury-M6 ultra-compact computer board and showcase SECO USA’s capabilities on Freescale’s biggest stage,” stated Rodney Feldman, Director of Systems Engineer at SECO USA. “The seven week turn for this board and fully packaged demo was fast, but we knew we had the experience necessary to get it done. Years of creating custom devices for OEMs and modifying our own COTS products enable our engineers to execute efficiently and accurately. With the Freescale SCM-i.MX6D, we can produce custom product with the greatest levels of feature integration within the smallest footprints and shortest time periods possible with the lowest risk – exactly what our customers want to hear.”

The Fury-M6 is on display at Arrow’s FTF Technology Lab booth through Thursday, June 25 and on Freescale’s Internet of Tomorrow Tour exhibit through 2015. SECO USA is immediately available to begin custom designs based on the Fury-M6 platform. The commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Fury-M6 will be available August 2015.
