SECO USA Announces Patent Issued for Real-Time Power Management

Rockville, MD, (April 2, 2007) — SECO USA, Inc., a leader in handheld and wireless device platforms for OEMs, today announced that the US Patent and Trademark Office has issued US Patent Number 7,111,179 for “Method and Apparatus for Optimizing Performance and Battery Life of Electronic Devices Based on System and Application Parameters”. The patent incorporates technology developed by SECO USA researchers to dynamically reduce the power consumption of handheld and wireless devices while minimizing side effects related to system operations and performance. The technology is specifically designed to automatically determine needed system performance in a domain-independent manner and adjust system parameters to achieve required performance levels with lower levels of power consumption. As a result, devices implementing the technology typically have extended battery life.
“The 179 patent provides valuable protection for SECO USA’s advanced power management technology, as realized in SECO USA’s award-winning BatterySmart dynamic power management software,” said Knut Skare, SECO USA’ CEO. “SECO USA’s customers will continue to benefit from the BatterySmart technologies which allow them to create wireless devices that are smaller, lighter, and run longer.”
