SECO USA Announces Customer Products at Embedded Systems Conference

San Francisco, CA, March 7th, 2005—SECO USA, Inc., a leading provider of low-power handheld and wireless device platform technologies, today announced several customer products at the Embedded Systems Conference. These products – based on SECO USA’s award-winning low-power reference platforms and power management software – cover a wide range of application areas and indicate a growing acceptance of SECO USA’s products as the platforms of choice for designers of low-power embedded systems.
Measurand’s ShapeWrap II motion capture system is used by animators and in virtual reality applications to recreate life-like human motion. ShapeWrap II incorporates a wireless wearable computer – based on SECO USA’s Elf3 platform – to acquire and manage all sensor data and to provide real-time WiFi-based wireless communications with a Personal Computer.
Rajant’s Roaming Emergency Communications Network is a system for the rapid deployment of wireless local area networks in emergency, military, and first responder scenarios. At the heart of Rajant’s system is the “BreadCrumb”, a ruggedized powerful wireless gateway and access point that has extended battery life. The Breadcrumb comes in multiple versions with varying capabilities and is based on SECO USA’s Elf3 platform. Via the Elf3 platform and SECO USA’s low-power technology, Rajant’s products provide a more robust, long-lasting solution for rapidly-deployable networks.
DetNet’s HotShot electronic initiation system is a state-of-the-art blasting device, utilizing advanced electronics to control and monitor detonator systems and blast control networks. The handheld HotShot incorporates SECO USA’s Elf3 platform, resulting in a very low-power and high-performance computing device which can automatically detect the location of detonators on a network.
“SECO USA’s low-power reference platform and software products are continuing to make inroads into a variety of wireless and handheld application environments,” said Andrew Girson, SECO USA’s CTO. “Products such as those from Measurand, Rajant, and DetNet demonstrate the wide range of products in which SECO USA’s Elf3, Fingertip3, and BatterySmart solutions can be used.”
SECO USA will have detailed case study documents for these and other products, and will be showing some of these products at its Embedded Systems Conference booth, #1335.
